5 on Friday

All I can say is Thank God It's Friday! And to top it off, it is pay day! Woot woot....except all that $$ is going to bills. Boo adult hood.

{1}
Tonight I am chaperoning the Junior High Halloween Dance at school. Last year whenever I got asked to chaperone, I always already had my schedule done for work by that point. This time, I was able to get off. I will be at school pretty much from 7am-9pm. After 9th period, we're setting up and then getting some food before the dance starts. Can't wait to see the students in their costumes! Afterwards, I am going to a Halloween party @ Sarah & Skye's with a free costume thanks to my mom...She found a pair of her scrubs she used to wear as a nurse. SCORE!

{2}
I got a manicure yesterday afternoon before work. Sometimes that is the best time to myself. I just don't think about ANYTHING related to work and just enjoy it. And yesterday, I was enjoying it so much I FELL ASLEEEP. Guess I was tired! Loving the color I got called Casino Royale by OPI.

Bryce, my cousin Lisa's husband, has written a bunch of eBooks for kids called Pomodoro the Penguin. He is now trying to get them to be published in PRINT which would be great for any teacher to have in their classroom! Please take a moment out and look at his work! So proud of him and I know this will happen for him.

{4}
Lily seems to be doing well in her Puppy kindergarten classes. She does not like to "stay" when she is told but we're working on it! She is 6 months old today! I told my mother I plan on taking her to Petco at Christmas when they have the Santa there for you to get your dog's picture taken and she told me I was nuts, #furmommy

{5}
My birthday is in a few weeks! I am going to be 27....which is SO scary because I am nowhere near where I thought I would be in life by that age back in the day when I was like 15. I am ordering myself a new Vera bag because it has MICKEY MOUSE on it! And I am on the hunt for a reasonable pair of brown boots. Gotta check out DSW!

{Sunday Social}

Happy Sunday everyone! I hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful fall weather.

Today's Sunday Social questions, linking up with Ashley & Neely:

1. What do you value most in life?
Honestly, it may sound cliche but my family, friends, and my education. I would not be where I am today without anyone or my education.

2. What do you think is the greatest invention in your life and why?
For me, there would be two - cell phones and GPS. My older brother Eric had a beeper when he was in high school and I thought it was cool. Once I finally got a cellphone when I was in 10th grade, I was obsessed!! And GPS because I am so geographically challenged I can get easily lost!

3. What do you think the secret is to a good life?
To me, the secret to a good life is having faith and confidence in yourself. When you feel like nothing is going right and what else could go possibly wrong, you find something in yourself to go on. Also, a wonderful support system of family and friends are an element to the answer of what the secret is to a good life.

4. What would you like most to be remembered for when you're gone?
I would like to be remembered for being a wonderful teacher (hopefully I can inspire students to become a teacher as well), someone who cared deeply for others, and my laugh (I tend to laugh so hard I snort and then laugh harder).

5. What accomplishment in your life are you most proud of?
Graduating College

and Receiving my Master's Degree

{Sunday Social}

Good morning, everyone! I am taking this time to relax with a cup of coffee as I blog because I have to work a double later at work and one tomorrow...and I am super tired. I just want to know..how it is the middle of October already?!

1. What is the first blog you ever followed?
That is a TOUGH question!!! I stumbled upon blogs when I was recovering from surgery almost 3 years ago. I forget how it happened. But I think the first blog I ever followed was Everything Beautiful.

2. What was your first blog post about?
My life! I was introducing myself and talking about how I had had a blog during college but it had been two years since I was blogging. Sad part? I actually went back and looked. It was called "New Year, Fresh Start."

3. Who left you your first blogging comment?
My friend Caitlin! Her mom was my religion teacher in 7th & 8th grade.

4. Who was the first blogger you have ever met in person?
Aside from Caitlin in the previous question (I knew her before I started blogging), I have not met anyone. I don't know a lot of bloggers in my area. I have read posts from blogs I follow such as Jamie and Nicole who have a friendship that has evolved into going to each other's weddings and being best friends...all because they met over the internet. Mind blown. I would LOVE to meet some of the girls I follow. Who knows? Maybe it will happen one day!

5. What was your first "blogging milestone"?
Hmm... probably the time I got more than 2 comments on one post. I thought "Wow, people are actually reading it." To me, it is not a contest of how many followers I get or comments or views. It is just nice knowing people can relate.

Link up with the lovely Ashley & Neely today!

Life happens

I feel like most of my blog posts lately have been link ups. Whether it be Five on Friday, Sunday Social or something else. It is as if blogging fell by the wayside and I was in a rut. Seriously, that is how I felt lately. To me, there was nothing interesting going on in my life to be deemed "blog worthy". And as I read posts of all these others bloggers I follow, I thought to myself "How on earth do they do it? Their life is so much more interesting and fun than mine is!" Yes, I had myself a pity party and moved on with life.

Truth be told, I have just been SUPER busy. School started September 3rd for two days and then we had two days off for the Jewish holidays. Since then, it has been GO GO GO, the kids have been off the wall (or maybe it is just one of my 9th period classes) and I am just ready for a break. Good thing we have a three day weekend for Columbus day! My schedule for school is kind of insane with being in French on A days 1,5,8,9 with being in Spanish 3 & 7th as well and then on B days, I am in Spanish 1,5,8,9 and 3&7th. I had to learn 200+ names and read 51 IEPs! My brain is fried.

As I am working as the TA, I keep looking for a job. The other TA that I worked with last year, Elvis, is doing a leave replacement upstairs for one of the high school teachers so there was a leave for him. The girl ended up getting 2 leaves back to back in a high school so she left and they had to take the permanent Spanish sub and make her the new TA. That lasted about two days until they had to make her the OTHER leave replacement upstairs (two high school teachers were on maternity leave) because they let the original person so. So then they took the new sub that was Spanish & French certified and made her the TA. Did you get lost? Haha, pretty complicated, right? My chairperson was so stressed with all the changes and told me if I got a new job and she had to hire another TA, she would strangle me! Haha, of course she would not do it but I said "Well at least I know I am loved here!" It just frustrates me to no end that everyone I know seems to be getting a teaching job and I can't find one of my own. Don't get me wrong. I am GRATEFUL to be working as a TA and at the current school where I am. I am just ready to be working full time with my own classroom!

My puppy Lily started her obedience classes last week and is going to her next one in a short while. She came home like a different dog after the first class. Hopefully this helps with all her nipping behavior (which I know is common because she is a puppy) and jumping on the coffee table. Because she likes to go on this kids picnic table we have in our backyard and while it is funny (see picture below), I want that behavior to stop! Let's just hope Lily doesn't fail out of school. She has 4 more classes after today's class.

{Five on Friday!}

Happy Friday everyone!! I swear I have a blog post coming that isn't a link up later tonight when I get home from work. Life's been kinda crazy lately!

{1} I am loving that it is a three day weekend. We have not had a day off since one of the Jewish Holidays at the beginning of September. It's a rough few weeks and the kids were FULL of energy today. Four of my classes today were French and the teacher I am with was not there and some of the kids were off the wall. I was SUPER glad when the bell rang at 2:07!

{2} Tomorrow night I am going into the city for my friend Amanda's birthday! This is the first time I have been able to actually go because I requested off work early enough and we started talking about this in September. I am excited to have a Saturday night off and just have fun. I am babysitting for a few hours for my brother before I go into the city and then my mom is coming over so I can leave. I had already made these plans when he asked us but still looking forward to seeing my munchkins.

{3} Lily started obedience training last week aka puppy kindergarten! My mom said it was like she was a different dog when she came home. She learned sit, down, touch, leave it/take it, spin and one or two other things. She has 5 more classes on Saturday mornings. I am enjoying it.

{4} I am so excited fall TV is back. I was getting super bored. The only shows I really watch now are Law & Order SVU (not the same without Stabler and now Munch is leaving! WTH!) and Grey's Anatomy. Any suggestions on something good? I am not a fan of Breaking Bad (I know it ended), American Horror Story or anything like that.

{5} I bought the Little Mermaid on DVD when it came out last week and finally watched it the other night. It made me super happy. I now need to plan a trip to Disney!

{Sunday Social - Week 70!}

Sunday Social has become one of my favorite weekly link ups since Ashley & Neely started it over a year ago!! Who can believe it is week 70 of this link up?!

This week's questions are all about middle school/high school.

1. What were you like in middle school and high school?
I seriously was super shy and just hung out with my small circle of friends. I wasn't one of the "popular" ones and I was certainly not a jock. I just went to school, got good grades, was a major NERD and went to dance classes. I did a complete 180 when I got to college!

2. What were your favorite past times?
I enjoyed hanging out with my friends! We used to go to the beach via the ferry in our town in the summer, spend the day there, and then come home for the $4 movie night at the theater in our town. Perks of being in a small town. When I was not with my friends, I enjoyed being at the dance studio. It was like a second home!

3. What songs were your obsessed with?
Anything by *NSYNC, Britney Spears, Avril Lavigne (Sk8er Boy anyone?), Jessica Simpson, Ashlee Simpson, and Ryan Cabrera. I still have all of them on my iTunes!

4. What fashion statement do you look back and cringe?
Umm, gosh, this is kind of hard. Probably the whole Pac Sun phase. Ridiculously priced!

5. Who was your celeb crush?
I was obsessed with Brad Pitt because I was jealous he was married to Jennifer Aniston (my main girl crush)...but then he was a homewrecker and shacked up with Angelina Jolie who I can't stand. And I was also obsessed with Jake Gyllenhaal. Still am!

6. What was your favorite movie?
I am having such a hard time remembering this! I loved Legally Blonde, Bring It On, Crossroads (yes, the Britney Spears movie!), A Walk to Remember and Now & Then. Oh, and Center Stage!

Now & Then

Center Stage

Legally Blonde
